Pre/Post Natal Chiropractic
Vertebral Subluxations can affect all areas of the spine. During pregnancy, subluxations are common in the sacral or SI joint. This dysfunction can interfere with correct positioning of the baby for normal head-down delivery.
The late Dr. Larry Webster, founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, discovered an adjustment technique known as Webster Technique. Subluxations in the sacral or pelvic area may cause tightening and tension on the muscle bundle supporting the baby in-utero.
This technique is used as a safe means to restore proper pelvic balance and function by releasing the stress on the pelvis, relaxing the surrounding ligaments and reducing the sacral vertebral subluxation to help restore more normal function.
High Success Rate
The July/August 2002 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reports that there is an 82% success rate when using the Webster Technique in reducing the sacral vertebral subluxation. In 2007, a report concluded “For many moms, Webster technique is the key to a safer birth.”
Resolving vertebral subluxations where the sacrum joins the pelvis (hip) helps balance the pelvis and prepare for the optimal delivery of the baby.
Due to the effectiveness of this technique, it is therefore considered prudent that this specific sacral analysis and adjustment be used throughout pregnancy to detect and alleviate sacral imbalance and optimize pelvic neuro-biomechanics in the mother.
